Every year Staff Selection Commission conducts the Combined Graduate Level exam. The examination process is held in four tiers namely Tier 1, Tier II, Tier III and Tier IV.

The SSC CGL Exam follows a distinct exam pattern which is given below:

 Brief Information of Different phases of SSC CGL Exam

Phase 1: Tier I- This phase has four different sections with 25 questions in each section with a total of 100 questions carrying 200 marks. Subjects for which the queries will be there are:

  • English Comprehension
  • General Intelligence & Reasoning
  • Quantitative Aptitude and
  • General Awareness.

Phase 2: Tier II- This phase comprises of questions for “methodological knowledge of English Language” and “Quantitative Aptitude”. Questions are divided into three sets.

Phase 3: Tier III- This level needs thorough and proficient writing skills in the English language. Aspirants need to prepare this section well. It is a descriptive test where an aspirant is given an essay or letter to write on any topic. The maximum marks allotted for this question paper is 100 with a time limit of 60 minutes.

Phase 4: Tier IV- The candidates who qualify the above-mentioned stages has to appear in Tier IV for face to face interview and personal interview with a team of experts.

Exam Pattern of SBI PO 2018-19

SBI Exam offers candidates to join for the post of the Probationary officer, Clerk or Specialist Officer at any of the branches of SBI within the country or outside the country.

SBI PO Exam Pattern

SBI PO selection process comprises of three phases (Preliminary, Mains and Group Exercise/Interview).  The candidates need to qualify all the three phases to ace the exam.

SBI PO Prelims Exam Pattern

The SBI PO preliminary examination will be conducted online having a duration of one hour. It will have three sections with 100 questions in total with a maximum score of 100 marks.

SBI PO Prelim Exam will follow negative marking where a penalty of 0.25 marks given for every wrong answer. Aspirants have to qualify the sectional cut-off limit to ace the exam and reach the next level or phase i.e SBI PO Main Exam.

SBI PO Mains Exam Pattern

After qualifying SBI PO Prelims one can appear in the SBI PO Mains exam. It comprises of two levels:

  1. Objective Exam
  2.  Descriptive Exam

Objective Exam will carry 200 marks and Descriptive Test will carry 50 marks. Both these tests will be held online. Candidates have to answer Descriptive test by typing on Computer.The descriptive test will be carried out after completing the objective test.

I. Objective Test: The objective test comprises of 4 sections with a maximum time limit of 3 hours duration. It carries a maximum score of 200. The objective test has sectional timings. In order to qualify this test cone should score cut-off marks as decided by the Bank examining the body.

  1. Descriptive Test: 

The descriptive test will be conducted for a maximum duration of 30 minutes carrying 50 marks. It is a written test of English Language where a candidate has to write Essay and Letters. Aspirants have to qualify Descriptive Test by scoring cut-off as decided by the bank authorities.

SBI PO Interview

The candidates who will qualify for both the tests i.e. Objective and Descriptive will be called for Interview. The merit list will be arranged in descending order of the total marks scored by them. This list will be prepared category-wise with consequent cut-off decided thereon.

The number of candidates in each category, as decided by the Bank will be called for Group Exercises and Interview. The cut - off or qualifying marks in Group Exercises and Interview will be as per the decision made by the Bank examining authorities.

Candidates under 'OBC' category require submitting OBC Certificate containing the 'Non-Creamy layer' clause. It has to be submitted at the time of Group Exercise and Interview. In case anyone is not able to submit the same, they will not be interviewed in General Category.

Eligibility Criteria of SSC GD 2018
