Punjab Police Sub-Inspector Eligibility Criteria (Age & Qualification) 

Age Limit:

As on 1st January 2021, a candidate should have attained the age of 18 years but should not have attained the age of 28 years, provided further that:

  • SC/ST/BC candidates shall be given relaxation in upper age limit by 5 years.

  •  Ex-Servicemen shall be given relaxation in the upper age limit by 3 years, plus the number of years of service rendered/served by them in the Indian Defence Forces.

  •  Serving government employees (State Govt. or Central Govt.) shall be given relaxation in upper age limit by 5 years, but they should not have attained the age of 33 years, as on 1st January 2021.

Educational Qualification:

Educational qualification for the post of sub-inspector is given as below:

Sub Inspector (Intelligence Cadre)

Candidates should graduate from a recognized university or institution, as the case may be provided that candidate should possess an ‘O’ level certificate of information technology from National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT).


A graduate from a recognized university or institution with computer science or computer application or information technology as one of elective subjects during the entire duration of graduation. 


Punjab Police Sub-Inspector Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for the Punjab Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment 2021 is as follows:

  • The Computer-Based Test (CBT) consisting of two papers of 2 hours duration each will comprise of 100 Multiple Choice Questions for each paper with four marks awarded for every correct answer. 

  • Negative marking for each incorrect answer shall be to the extent of 25% of the marks assigned to a question.

Selected candidates will be entitled to initial pay of Rs 35,400. This pay scale is set according to the rules and law passed by the government of Punjab.
