RBI Grade B Notification: Check Exam Dates, Eligibility, Application, Vacancy, Pattern, Syllabus

RBI is all set to conduct examination for Grade B officer at 150 Test center in almost all states of India. This exam is one of the important examinations amongst all banking examinations conducted every year. Grade B comprises 3 different grades of employees alternating General, DEPR & DSM's. Reserve Bank of India almost every year holds a common recruitment examination for the post of Grade B officers. RBI Grade- is not the same as the other bank exams. RBI exam conserves a virtuous level of difficulty and has a different procedure in phase-II while comparing to other banking examinations. It is deliberated as one of the most respected jobs in India.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will release the official notification for the post of RBI Grade B Officer 2020 Exam in the month of September 2020. It is an excellent opportunity for graduates who are looking for an opportunity in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). RBI Grade B 2020 exam has a three-phase selection process. Candidates who get selected after Phase-I & Phase-II of the exam are called for the final interview process.

Salary RBI Grade B 2020

Aspirants who will qualify for the post of Officers in the RBI Grade B 2020 Exam will be entitled to the salary of 12 to 14 lacs annually. The pay scale for the RBI Grade B officer will be Rs. 35150-1750(9)-50900-EB-1750(2)-54400-2000(4)-62400. There will be a basic pay of Rs. 35,150/- with an increment of Rs. 1,250/- for nine years of their regular service. Further, the candidates will be promoted to the executive level where they will receive Rs. 50,900/- ad than in the next two years an increment of Rs.1,750/- will be given. After that, there will be an increment of Rs.2000/- for the following 2 years. They will be ending with the basic pay of Rs. 62400/- in cae there is no promotion done in the due course. Besides this there are various allowances such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Family Allowance, Telephone Allowance, Conveyance Allowance, etc. are also given to candidates post their joining to the post of Officer in RBI.

A Master's Degree in Economics / Econometrics / Quantitative Economics / Mathematical Economics / Integrated Economics Course/ Finance, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognized Indian or Foreign University /Institute.

A Master's Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/ Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Kharagpur/ Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years; OR

Master's Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years and a one-year postgraduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an institute of repute; OR

M. Stat. The degree of Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate of all semesters/years OR

Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years

Age:  A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on the 1st of September 2019 i.e., he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd September 1989 and not later than 1st September 1998. For candidates possessing M.Phil. and Ph.D. qualification, upper age limit will be 32 and 34 years respectively.
Number of Attempts: If General Category candidates have already appeared 6-times for the Phase-I Exam of this post in the past, then they would be considered ineligible to apply. However, there is no such restriction in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD if the posts are reserved for them

Interview Phase III:

Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview, centered on the aggregate of marks obtained in  Phase-II (Paper-I  +Paper-II  +Paper-III).   The interview will be of 50  marks. The candidate may opt for an interview either in Hindi or English.  Final Selection will be through merit list which will be prepared by adding marks secured by candidates in Phase-II examination and interview.

Selection will be through the Online/ Written Examination (WE) and interview. There are 3 papers for the Examination. Paper I Objective Type (on Economics), Paper II Descriptive Type (on Economics) & Paper III English – Descriptive (To be typed with help of keyboard).

RBI Grade B 2020 - Syllabus

RBI will release a notification for 300 Grade B Officer. RBI is a bankers bank and thus it has a lot of variation in exam syllabus and pattern as compared to IBPS exams. 
It is advisable to know the latest exam pattern and syllabus of RBI Grade B Officers There is no such change expected this year, the exam pattern is expected to be the same for the Prelims exam as that of last year. General Awareness Syllabus for RBI Grade B:

The level of the General Awareness section expected to be easy to moderate. 

This is the only segment where candidates can score more and be able to be in the merit list. There is a total of 80 questions that will be asked in this section. The questions can be asked about different topics which are mentioned below-

(i) Current Affairs – National  & International News, Awards & Authors, Sports News, Summits & Conferences, Schemes, Agreement & Deals, Science & technology, etc.

(ii) Banking & Financial + Economic News– Banking Terminology, Banking & Economic news, Monetary policies, Current rates, Financial & Economic News, Economics terms, etc.

(iii) Static GK – Static GK – Mountains Rivers, Ports, Parks, Dam, Thermal Power Plants, Temples, Stadiums, Airports, etc.

English Language syllabus for RBI Grade B:

RBI Grade B exam comprises of three phases:

Q1. What is the commencement date for online registrations of RBI Grade-B Officer recruitment 2020?

Ans1. The commencement date of online registrations for all three posts will start in September 2020.

Q2. When will the online exam for RBI Grade B Officer recruitment 2020 is going to be held?

Ans2. Phase 1 online exam for Officers in Grade B (DR) – General will be held in the month of November 2020 and phase 2 of online exam for Officers in Grade B (DR) – General will be held in the month of December 2020.

Q3. How many vacancies will RBI release in the year 2020?

Ans3. It is expected that RBI will release 300 vacancies in 2020.

Q4. When will RBI Grade B 2020 notification come?

Ans4. RBI Grade B 2020 notification likely to be out in April 2020 and applicants will be able to apply online for RBI Grade B 2020 exam till the last week of April 2020. RBI Grade B 2020 exam date for phase 1 is likely to be in June 2020.

Q5. What is the eligibility criterion for RBI Officers in Grade ‘B’ (General) – DR, DEPR and DSIM?

Ans5. Educational Qualification:
The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification from a foreign university recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
Age Limit – A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years. For candidates possessing M.Phil.  and Ph.D. qualification, upper age limit is 32 and 34 years respectively.

Q6. I have scored 50% marks in graduation, Am I eligible for RBI Officers in Grade ‘B’ (General) – DR, DEPR and DSIM?

Ans6. Yes, if you hold SC/ST/PwBD quota, you are eligible for RBI Officers in Grade ‘B’ (General) – DR, DEPR and DSIM.
But General and OBC candidates must have at least 55% marks in graduation or in any other equivalent qualification.

Q7. How many attempts are there for RBI Officers in Grade ‘B’ (General) – DR, DEPR, and DSIM?

Ans7. Candidates belonging to unreserved i.e. General Category, who have already appeared Six times for Phase-I Examination for this post in the past, are not eligible to apply. No such restriction applies to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD, if the posts are reserved for them.

Q8. What is the age eligibility criterion for posts under this grade?

Ans8. If you are an enthusiastic aspirant to attain posts under the Reserve Bank of India Grade B offices then the age eligibility criteria for will be:

  • Under this recruitment, the age of the candidate must lie between 21 to 30 years of age.
  • There is a chance of relaxation up to 5 years for SC/ST category lying in the upper age limit.
  • There is also another chance of relaxation up to three years for OBC category lying in the upper age limit.

Q9. Will there be any interview after the written result?

Ans9. Yes, as per the notification there will be an interview for candidates who are declared qualified in Phase-II exam.

Q10. Is the exam Bilingual?

Ans10. The tests except for the Test of English Language will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi.

Q11. What are RBI promotions based upon?

Ans11. If you are expecting any promotions at the Reserve Bank of India then you are supposed to clear various competitive exams when you expect a place at the higher and senior-level like General Managers. Therefore, aspirants who are aspiring for RBI Grade B examination, after they clear the exam they get to manage monetary resources which help the country to gain revenue.

Q12. What is the starting salary of posts under this recruitment?

Ans12. The starting salary under the posts of RBI Grade B officers is Rs.35150 and in addition to it, the extra allowances include Local allowance, Dearness allowance, House Rent Allowance, Family allowance and Grade allowance which are going to improvise and have changes to improvise itself from time to time.

Q13. What are the selection procedures of RBI Grade-B Recruitment 2020?

Ans13. The selection for Officers will be done through a three-tier process:

  • Preliminary Examination
  • Main Examination
  • Personal Interview

Q14. What is the Application Fee?

Ans14.

  • For SC/ST/PWD Rs. 100/- (Intimation Charges only)
  • For General, OBC Rs. 850/- (App. Fee including intimation charges)

Q15. Is there a sectional cut-off in the exam?

Ans15. Yes, candidates have to secure minimum marks separately for each test as well as in aggregate.

Q16. Is there any Negative marking in the RBI Grade B Exam?

Ans16. Yes, negative marking for wrong answers in CBTs is 1/4th of the marks for that question.

Q17. Do RBI Grade B Officers get a pension?

Ans17. No, under the ambit of NPS currently there is no pension scheme for RBI employees.

Q18. Is RBI Grade B Officer job transferable?

Ans18. Yes, but only after completing the initial 5 years of posting.
