The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) holds the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam for the appointment of candidates in Grade “B” and “C” category posts at various Government Ministries, Departments, and Offices. The SSC Combined Graduate Level exam has a four-tier system, in which tier I and tier II are computer-based, while in tier III and IV, job applicants take up a descriptive paper and a computer proficiency test or skill test & document verification. The entire process of registration and communication will be online through the official website of SSC CGL. Aspirants must qualify each phase of the SSC CGL exam to go on to the next one, before being finally selected.

The recruitment notification for SSC CGL 2020-21 exam going to be released on Sep 2020. The official Notification PDF for 2020-21 will be by Staff Selection Committee of India on 15th September 2020. The online recruitment process will begin once the notification has been released. The CGL Examination for Tier I will be held from March 2021 and will be a computer-based examination. According to the official notification, the Combined Graduate Level Examination for Tier II and III will be held from April-2021. The registration link will remain open till 15 Oct-2020, after which no application will be accepted.

SSC CGL 2020 Exam Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for SSC CGL 2020 has three important features:-

Physical Fitness Requirements: Apart from the above, there are certain requisite physical standards for Inspector (Central Excise/ Examiner/Preventive Officer), Sub-Inspector in CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) and Sub-Inspector in NIA (National Investigation Agency).

SSC CGL 2020 VACANCIES

The tentative vacancy for SSC CGL 2020 will be released soon by the Staff Selection Commission of India. It is good to make a note of the SSC CGL exam pattern & syllabus, before starting the exam preparation. SSC CGL Exam Patterns 2020 for Tier I & II are given below:

  1. SSC CGL 2020 Tier I and Tier II exam will be held online.

  2. A descriptive paper is introduced which will be of 100 marks with a time limit of 60 minutes in pen and paper mode.

  3. The time limit for examination of Tier -I is 60 minutes.

Important Points:

  1. SSC CGL 2020 Tier I Exam will have negative marking. One wrong answer to a question will deduct 1/4 marks from the total of all sections.

  • For visually handicapped candidates the exam duration is 2 hours 40 minutes.

  • In Tier-II, there will be a negative marking of 1/4 for each wrong answer in every section.

SSC CGL 2020 Tier III Exam Pattern

This is a descriptive exam with the purpose of testing the writing skills of the candidates in English/Hindi. It is held offline. The candidates are required to write an essay/letter/application/precis. In order to prepare for this section, one needs to read lots of articles from various newspapers and magazines. Besides this, you need to be well-versed with the latest pattern of letters and applications.

  • For visually handicapped candidates the exam duration is 1 hour 20 minutes.

  • Tier-I, Tier-II & Tier-III exams are compulsory for all posts mentioned in the SSC CGL 2019 notification.

SSC CGL 2020 Tier IV

Tier 4 Exam of SSC CGL Exam 2020 will have a couple of skill tests that are necessary for certain government posts.

1. DEST (Data Entry Speed Test): It is a qualifying candidate skill test for all the posts, other than Compiler. It is held to test the typing speed of the candidate. In this test, the candidates are given the printed material in English which they should type accurately on a computer with a minimum of 2000 key depressions. The duration of this test is 15 minutes.
2. CPT (Computer Proficiency Test):  SSC will hold CPT in three modules - Word Processing, Spread Sheet and Generation of Slides. CPT is a test for the posts of Assistant Section Officer in CSS, MEA & AFHQ, Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines, Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer) & Inspector (Examiner) in CBIC.
3. Document Verification: The last step of the final selection would be document verification.

SSC CGL Interview Details

The interview is not conducted for the recruitments in SSC CGL Exam. It has an objective and descriptive exam pattern. On the basis of the same, merit is generated and the candidates who successfully clear all the phases are appointed for the post in the requisite Government Department or Ministry.

How to apply for SSC CGL EXAM 2020?

  1. First of all, log in to the official website http://ssc.nic.in
  2. Register as a new user at the website which can be created by using a valid email ID and phone number. You will get OTP of the required ID you want to generate for the SSC portal.
  3. After you click on the Apply button, you will get the application form, fill it online.
  4. You need to have the scanned copies of the recent passport size photograph, signature, and thumb impression to fill the application.
  5. You can pay the application fee online or through a Challan which will be generated after you have filled in the required application of SSC CGL 2020 Exam.
  6. After registration click on the Apply button to get the application submitted to the portal.
  7. Then click on the Submit button after cross-checking the details or else you will not be able to make any changes afterward.
  8. Download the duly filled-in application form.
  9. Take the print out for future references.

How to Download SSC CGL 2020 Admit Card?

Given below are the steps that you need to follow in order to download the Admit Card for SSC CGL 2019-2020 Tier-1:

  1. Firstly visit the official website of SSC.
  2. Click on the Admit Card button.
  3. Click on regional/sub-regional website link.
  4. Click on the given Admit Card Dashboard.
  5. If you have your Registration Number/Roll Number and password, then login through it.
  6. If you don’t have your Registration Number/Roll Number and password, then fill the first three letters of your name and the first three letters of your mother’s name followed by your D.O.B.
  7. Download your Admit Card and print it for future reference.

SSC will release SSC CGL Admit Card separately for different levels of Examination, i.e. Admit Card for Tier-I will be released first and then it will release the Admit Card for Tier-II and so on. Those candidates who qualify Tier-I will be issued Admit Card for Tier –II. In the same way, Admit Card for Tier-III will be issued to candidates who have cleared the Tier-II Exam and so on.

The Staff Selection Commission conducted the Combined Graduate Level Examination (Tier-I), 2019 from 03-03-2020 to 09-03-2020 in the Computer Based Mode. Yes, the aspirants in the final year of graduation can apply but they have to present their bachelor’s degree at the time of document verification.
