About PSTET Exam
PSTET Exam is a state-level exam conducted by the Punjab school education board (PSEB). The exam pattern of PSTET is designed by PSEB which is published along with the official PSTET notification. According to the PSTET exam pattern, the exam is held for two papers depending upon the standard the candidates want to pursue their teaching profession. Paper 1 is held for classes I to V and Paper 2 is held for Classes VI to VIII respectively.
The Council of Educational Research & training has assigned the responsibility of conducting PSTET to the Punjab school education board (PSEB). PSEB decides PSTET exam pattern and it is being notified in the official PSTET notification. As per the PSTET pattern, the exam will have two papers for classes I to V and classes VI to VIII respectively. In this article, we are going to present a complete PSTET Exam pattern for the candidates in a concise manner. Both PSTET 1 and PSTET 2 PAPERS are conducted offline.
PSTET Paper 1 has five sections to be attempted in 150 minutes. The maximum marks fixed for the question paper is 150. These marks are alienated section-wise. The section-wise marks distribution is given below:
- Child Development and Pedagogy has 30 questions with 30 marks in total
- Language-I comprise of 30 questions with 30 marks in total
- Language-II comprises of 30 questions with 30 marks in total
- Mathematics is divided into two sections these are content and pedagogical issues where the content section carries 15 marks and pedagogical questions also carry 15 marks.
- Environmental Studies is divided into two sections these are content and pedagogical issues where the content section carries 15 marks and pedagogical questions also carry 15 marks.
The difficulty level of questions in PSTET Paper 1 is set up to the secondary level.
PSTET Paper 2 has five sections to be attempted in 150 minutes. The maximum marks allotted for the question paper is 150. These marks are divided section-wise. The distribution of section-wise marks is given below:

The difficulty level of PSTET Paper 2 questions would be up to the senior secondary level.
PSTET Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates should have passed 10+2 with minimum 45 percent aggregate marks in order to be capable to be appointed as a primary stage teacher
- Candidates should have qualified graduation with minimum 45 percent aggregate marks or 10+2 with at least 50 percent aggregate marks in order to be qualified for appointment as an elementary stage teacher
- Candidates should have accomplished the approved teacher training programs/teacher education courses
