SSC Stenographer 2020 Exam Eligibility
Aspirants of SSC Stenographer 2020 will have to fulfill certain eligibility requirements to successfully fill the application form.
Education Qualification(As on 01.01.2020)
- Candidates must have passed 10+2 or any equivalent exam from a recognized board or university.
- Candidates appearing in the final year from the Board/University to prove the same can also apply for the exam.
Nationality
Candidates belonging to any of the following nationalities can apply for SSC Stenographer 2020:
- Indian citizen
- Citizen of Nepal
- Citizen of Bhutan
- Tibetan refugee, only if they come with the intention to stay in India
- People born in India but migrated to Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries
Age Limit(As on 01.01.2020)
- The age of the candidate must be between 18 to 30 years for Grade-B and between 18 to 27 years for Grade-C.
- Candidates belonging to the reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PH/Ex-Servicemen, Central Government Employees, and J&K domiciled candidates) can avail age relaxation as per the Government of India.

SSC Stenographer Grade C & D Selection Process and Exam Pattern:

SSC Stenographer 2020 will be conducted in two different levels:1. SSC Stenographer Grade C & D Tier 1 Written Paper(CBT)
2. SSC Stenographer Grade C & D Tier 2 Skill Test Stenography
It is compulsary for candidates to clear both these level of exam in order to get a joining letter for the post of Grade C & D.

- Candidates who opt to take the Stenography Test in Hindi will be required to learn English Stenography and vice versa after their appointment, failing which their probation may not be cleared by appointing departments. Candidates have to work as English/ Hindi stenographers as per the functional requirement of the User Office irrespective of the medium of Skill Test of candidate during the examination.
- The skill test will be held at the Commission’s Regional/ Sub Regional Offices or at other Centre(s) as may be decided by the Commission.
- Detailed instructions regarding Skill Test will be sent by the concerned Regional/ Sub Regional Offices of the Commission to the candidates called for the Skill Test.

SSC Stenographer Grade C & D Skill Test
- 80 words per minute (w.p.m.) for the post of Stenographer Grade D and
- 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade C.
There is no interview conducted for SSC Stenographer Exam. It has objective and descriptive exam pattern. On the basis of the same merit is generated and the candidates who successfully clear all the phases are appointed for the post in the requisite Government Department or Ministry.

In case where more than one candidate secures the equal aggregate marks in the Computer Based Examination, tie will be resolved by applying the following methods one after another:
a. Marks in Part-I (i.e. General Intelligence & Reasoning)
b. Marks in Part-II (i.e. General Awareness)
c. Date of birth, with older candidate placed higher.
d. Alphabetical order in which names of the candidates appear.

Ans1. SSC Stenographer 2019-20 exam will be conducted on May 5-7, 2020
Q2. What is the work of SSC Stenographer?
Ans2. The job responsibilities of SSC Stenographer in various ministries or departments are - speech writing, press conference briefings, helping in public relation etc.
Q3. What is the application fee?
Ans3. For General/ OBC/ EWS candidates, the application fee is Rs 100. The application fee is exempted for SC/ ST/ PwD/ Ex-servicemen and Female candidates.
Q4. Can I change SSC Stenographer exam centres?
Ans4. The exam centres cannot be changed after the final submission of the application form.
Q5. Is there any negative marking in the exam?
Ans5. Yes, there is negative marking in the exam. For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.
Q6. Is there any interview for SSC Stenographer exam?
Ans6. Candidates qualifying the computer-based test are called for the skill test in stenography. Those who qualify the skill test are called for document verification.

Ans10. Yes, candidates with any kind of disability will be given an extra 40 minutes to complete the exam.
Q11. How to download the SSC Stenographer Admit Card if the registration/roll number is lost?
Ans11. In case of losing the registration/roll number, a candidate can download the SSC Stenographer Admit Card by entering his / her name, father’s name and date of birth and retrieve the registration/roll number.
Q12. I am in the final year of graduation. Am I eligible for this exam?
Ans12. Yes, you are eligible for this exam. But your eligibility is subjected to the condition that if called for the interview, you will have to show certificate of graduation examination on or before a specified date mentioned in the official notice.
Q13. What ID proofs am I supposed to carry along with SSC Stenographer Admit Card?
Ans13. With SSC Stenographer Admit Card, you can carry any one of your ID proof such as Passport, Aadhar card, Driving license, PAN card with a photo attested.
Q14. Can I apply for both the post like Grade C and Grade D?
Ans14. Yes, you can apply for both the posts. However, make sure that you mention the appropriate preference of post/department, as your preference will be considered FINAL and IRREVERSIBLE during the selection process. Moreover, the commission makes the final allotment of post based on the merit preference of Post/ Departments given by the candidates and no change is considered or made by the commission.
Q15. Is the written exam (CBT) bilingual?
Ans15. Yes, the written exam can be given in Hindi and English except for Part III (which has English and Comprehension).
Q16. What is the SSC Stenographer Marking Scheme?
Ans16. Given below is the marking scheme that has been set currently by the SSC for Stenographer post:
- Total Questions Asked: 200
- Marks allotted for correct response: 1
- Marks deducted for incorrect response: 0.25(mark deduction)
- Marks deduction for not attempted: NIL Marking
Q17. What is the Tie-Breaking criterion, in case I have the same marks as some other candidate?
Ans17. The following scheme will be applicable in case of any clash:
- Candidate with higher marks in Part I of written exam is given higher marks if the tie persists then;
- Candidate’s date of birth is considered i.e. older candidate is preferred first, but if the tie still exists;
- Alphabetical order of the name of a candidate is the final decisive criteria.

Ans18. Yes, the following cases are applicable to sit for SSC Stenographer 2020:

Q19. I have low vision in my right eye, can I apply for Grade D post?
Ans19. Yes, you can apply for both the posts, i.e., Grade C and Grade D posts even if you have low vision. However, you need to state proof of it in the prescribed format.

Ans20. SSC Stenographer 2020 will be conducted in two shifts- Morning and Evening Shift.
